Just 23 miles northwest of Nephi is the small mining town of Eureka, Utah with its rich history in mining. After the discovery of the Sunbeam Lode, the city became home of the Tintic Mining District, making it one of the wealthiest gold, silver, and mineral production sites in Utah. In 1979 Eureka was awarded a place in the National Register of Historic Places because of the Tintic Mining District Multiple Resource Area and now contains a mining museum complete with library of newspapers from 1902-1942, history room, mining artifacts, mineral displays, and self-guided tours.
